Quality Practitioner

Role Overview
As the Quality Practitioner at Cambridge Spark, it is your role to support the delivery of consistently high-quality teaching, learning, and assessment across Cambridge Spark’s provisions. The Quality Practitioner plays a hands-on role in conducting quality monitoring activities, evaluating learner and delivery staff experiences, and delivering targeted Continuous Professional Development (CPD) to drive assessment activity and improvements.
Working closely with the Quality Manager, IQA Manager and Programme Performance Managers & Team Leads, the postholder will provide quality assurance across all elements of delivery (coaching, mentoring and training). The role will increase institutional capacity to support regulatory frameworks, ensuring coherence across Cambridge Spark’s full quality ecosystem.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Quality Assurance & Monitoring
- Learning walks & observations: Carry out regular learning walks and observations of delivery and IAG staff in line with the quality monitoring plan.
- Quality reviews: Assist with internal quality reviews, case sampling and deep dives, contributing to the evaluative reporting and identification of key improvement actions.
- Learner and employer feedback: Monitor survey feedback to evaluate the quality of provision and the learner/employer experience, identifying improvement areas based on trends.
- Portfolio sampling: Undertake portfolio internal quality assurance sampling across a variety of programmes, working closely with technical leads and the IQA Manager
- Standardisation & moderation: Develop and participate in standardisation, moderation, and verification activities across key provisions, including: assessment practice and pedagogy.
2. Curriculum & Practitioner Support
- Review delivery practices: Work closely with delivery teams to review assessment, feedback, and target-setting practices, ensuring compliance with government-funded programmes and regulations.
3. CPD, Training & Resource Development
- Deliver CPD programmes: Contribute to the design and delivery of high-quality CPD programmes and internal training relating to quality measures, policies, and processes.
- Resource creation: Develop practical internal CPD guides, resources, Careers Education Information, Advice and Guidance (CEIAG) materials, and mandatory training resources for staff.
- Advocacy: Act as a leading advocate for delivery staff, curriculum, and learning, keeping excellent teaching, learning and assessment at the forefront of all activities.
4. Compliance & Collaboration
- Policy compliance: Ensure delivery staff are aware of, and adhering to, all quality requirements, regulations, and process changes.
- Cross-department collaboration: Work collaboratively with other department managers and teams to ensure collective alignment toward quality improvement goals.
Key Requirements & Skills
- Strong ability to evaluate quality and analyse delivery data reliably within the post-16 training/government-funded sector.
- Proven experience in coaching, training, and/or assessing, with a deep understanding of what constitutes high-quality teaching, learning and assessment.
- Proven experience, or willingness to upskill and develop, in internal quality assurance practices. This is likely to include holding, or being willing to work towards gaining, an IQA qualification.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage positively with internal staff and external stakeholders.

Essential
- Experience in quality assurance and enhancement, or a commitment to upskilling in these areas
- Strong working knowledge of:
- Apprenticeships
- Quality frameworks
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Ability to analyse and interpret data to inform quality enhancement.
Desirable
- Quality Assurance / Internal Verifier qualification, or commitment to working towards
- Experience of working with Ofsted and DfE regulations
- Experience of working with - or within - an Awarding Organisation
- Knowledge of apprenticeship or work-based FE/HE provision.
