Role Overview 

We're looking for an experienced and knowledgeable AI Mentor to play a pivotal role in our AI apprenticeships for leaders, managers, and change professionals. This role is crucial in empowering professionals to identify, implement and champion AI technologies, driving innovation and productivity across their organisations.

As an AI Mentor, you will guide and support professionals through their apprenticeship journey, helping them to become confident and capable AI Leaders. You will be instrumental in supporting learners to drive technological innovation and improve efficiency and productivity within their businesses. Your background in leading digital or operational change and driving productivity improvements will be vital in this role.

 

Key responsibilities:

  • Support learners with eligibility professional discussions.
  • Conduct formative and summative assessments against the Knowledge, Skills and Behaviours (KSBs) of the Apprenticeship Standard.
  • Support learners in developing and producing high-quality project portfolios.
  • Prepare learners for their Apprenticeship End Point Assessment.
  • Provide ad-hoc technical support and regular check-in sessions.
  • Attend weekly and ad-hoc 1:1 and group mentoring sessions.
  • Support with Line Manager input and the final employer reference.
  • Prepare learners to enter Gateway.
  • Provide regular feedback and updates on learner progress to the Learner Success Team.
  • Support the Faculty team with content development and learner support tickets.
  • Provide general advice and guidance to all learners, acting as a primary point of contact for portfolio queries.
  • Safeguard children and vulnerable adults from harm and report concerns in accordance with Cambridge Spark processes.
  • Develop good relationships and encourage equality of opportunity between different groups, eliminating discrimination, harassment and victimisation.
  • Attend regular team meetings and provide updates on learner progress as requested.
  • Support with any ad-hoc duties or requests reasonably required to successfully carry out the role or support the business.
 

Candidate Specification: 

Essential

  • 5+ years departmental management experience (ideally Head of or above) 
  • Experience delivering complex digital change/transformation projects
  • Knowledge and awareness of GenAI such that they’re able to: 
    • Understand and discuss fundamental concepts at a high level and explain them to others 
    • Understand and discuss the potential of GenAI in business
    • Understand and discuss some of the key risks associated with GenAI for organisations
  • Experience coaching junior/mid-level managers and supporting their career development
  • Knowledge of management theory 
  • Experience mentoring, teaching, or coaching professionals in a learning or organisational development context—particularly in roles related to apprenticeships or digital skills
  • Experience of prioritising workload, working to strict deadlines and following governing procedures and controls 
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team, supporting development of other colleagues
  • Conscientious with excellent interpersonal skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work under pressure

Desirable

  • Experience in leading business change initiatives, improving productivity through technology, or embedding digital tools into team workflows
  • Background in education or an AI - related field
 

Interview process: 

  1. Competency based interview + role play (brief to prepare will be shared in the interview invite) - 1 hour
  2. Ways of Working/Meet the Team - 45 minutes
